Just a very quick note to say that we've recently added a whole load of new business categories to the site, more than quadrupling the number of businesses and services we have listed.
As well as pubs, restaurants and other meeting places, you can now use the site to find, rate and review a whole range of other local shops and services.

A new feature...
You might have noticed the new 'facilities' option that is now displayed underneath the map on our business listing pages (see below or look here for a real example).

This is a new feature that will show the nearest car parks or cashpoints to the business you are looking at on the map. Just click on the appropriate box to bring them up.

If you want a bit more information about the the car park or cashpoint, you can get it by clicking on its icon on the map. You can also use the
and
icons in the information window to get directions to and from the car park or cashpoint to the business you're currently looking at.

New Partnership with Hostelbookers.com
We're pleased to announce our new partnership with hostelbookers.com that will allow you to find and book beds at hundreds of UK hostels on Where's Best.
We've added a new 'Youth Hostel' option to the search facility on the site that will allow you to find UK hostels where you are. You can then check availability and book beds by clicking on the 'Book beds at this hostel' link on the hostel's listing page. You can see an example of a bookable hostel here.
Hostelbookers is the only independent hostel booking site that doesn't charge booking fees, which should help save those precious pennies. They also offer a great group booking facility, which can get cheap deals for those of you travelling with friends.

New Features Added
Just a quick post to let you know that we've added a few new features to the site. The most obvious of these are some new social networking features, including member profile pages and the ability to follow other members by adding them as a friend.
These are the first of a number of changes we hope to be rolling out over the coming months which will help make the site more than just a business directory and add a strong community aspect to the site.

Where's Best Mini-listing Widget
We're proud to announce that we've recently created the first 'widget' for the site. The mini listing widget has been designed to allow anyone to quickly add details of any of the UK businesses listed on Where's Best to their website or blog.
The widget displays the business name, address, phone number, average member rating and a small map and can be generated for any of the businesses featured on the site by clicking on the 'Add details to your website / blog' link on its listing page. Here's an example widget for an Indian restaurant where you can sometimes find the Where's Best staff:
The widget can be customised, allowing you to change the border colour and alignment of the details and map and comes in both an HTML / javascript and an Adobe Flash version. Here's another example, this time using the Flash version of the widget with the details / map aligned vertically and with the border in a rather fetching shade of blue:
If you're arranging a meeting or just want to tell people about your favourite UK venues, the widget is a quick and easy way to add the information to your website or blog. Why not create a widget of your own?
